I signed up for a 7-day Feel Good Blogging Challenge that hopefully I can keep up with. Our first Blog Challenge is to write about our ideal client. First, a little background: I specialize in "family" photography. The word "family" can mean so many different things today, and Family Photography means any type of portrait photography a family might hire me to do. This might be weddings or portraits, and usually when a client hires me for one type, they eventually hire me for another. I have a client who first hired me for her daughter's wedding, then her son's senior pictures. Now her son is engaged, and wants to hire me to do engagement pictures, and eventually wedding pictures. One day, if he has children, I hope to take photos of them, too.
This is the first aspect of my ideal client. I can really get to know them better, and I absolutely love that. I love that we're comfortable with each other, and that really helps when photographing them. I love a relaxed client!
The second aspect of my ideal client is that they love their family and love to have fun with them. They want portraits done to remember the joy and love of the moment. They realize that children grow up so fast, and time flies by. Their photograph is a memory of one moment, captured in time, so they can look at that picture later and remember exactly how they felt in that moment. Some of them tear up when they first see the photos of their child, or their family, or their wedding. They love them so much that they immediately want to share them with everyone. They even love photos of themselves, which they don't really expect. They love them so much that years down the road, they still might get a tear thinking of that memory, and remembering how much fun they had making it.
That's my ideal client.
